New Balance Men's 574 Sneaker,Grey,10 D
  • I bought these in medium width and wore them around the house to realize that they were too narrow in the mid / fore foot and didn't have enough instep depth for my foot. I wear medium width in the preponderance of other shoes that I own. I opted for New Balance's 373 instead of this shoe and couldn't be happier that I did for my preferences. The heel is way less raised in the 373, so I don't feel like I'm on pontoons like the 574, there is more width / depth in the entire shoe, and they are way less "luggy" in general (significantly lighter). I'm sure the 574 is a nice shoe for a narrower foot, but not my cup of tea.
  • I must say that a large part of the glowing review I'm about to give is due to the color of my shoes, which, incidentally, is not shown among the dozen or so variants available here. My pair of 574's are mostly black, with light grey "N" logos stitched on, a white strip above the sole, white portions by the top lace eyelets, and a PALE YELLOW rear "kick guard" or whatever you'd like the call the plastic strip on the back. This particular combo looks killer, and I don't see it here. But I digress... Typically, when one goes to buy a casual sneaker, they have two things in mind: Looks and comfort. Sometimes, comfort even comes AFTER looks if you are really bent on your appearance.…
